This is a 6* BIG-CHALK RUN-LINE CHOKE-OUT on the LA Angels.
In a game that we believe will be decided late or in extra innings, we have no issues at all in laying the larger price for the extra 1.5 runs of insurance. The Angels hand the ball to the red hot Matt Shoemaker (5-7, 4.01 ERA) who struck out ten in a no-decision vs. Cleveland on Tuesday, the third-year pro hasn't given up a single run in his last three starts spanning 19 innings (note that Shoemaker has a 4-1 record on the road and a respectable 3.96 ERA in all "night" games). The home side counters with Chris Sale (9-7, 3.52 ERA) who after giving up a career-high 12 hits in a loss to the Red Sox, would follow it up by allowing seven runs on six hits over 5 1/3's innings in another dud vs. the Rays on Tuesday. Sale has now given up seven runs in back-to-back starts lifting his season ERA to a pedestrian 3.52. Recent performance is an important factor to take into consideration and it's hard to argue the momentum in which Shoemaker comes in with, all signs do indeed point to the ANGELS on the RUN-LINE as the savvy move in this one.
