This is an 8* ASSASSIN on the San Francisco Giants.
Colorado won four of its last five in front of the home town crowd after dropping five straight and nine of ten before the surge. Suffice it to say, I think this team's inconsistencies will once again show as it embarks on this road trip and especially in the opener (note that Colorado is just 9-18 away from friendly confines this year). The visitors hand the ball to Chad Bettis (3-2, 3.44 ERA) who has been hit or miss all season and I think he'll be in for a fight here vs. veteran Tim Hudson (5-6, 4.52 ERA) who has posted a highly respectable 3.56 ERA in five starts since May 24th, most recently yielding two runs in a 6-2 win over the Dodgers on Saturday. Also note that Hudson has received six or more runs of support in two of his last three outings and has to be liking his chances for that kind of production to continue here after the Giants rallied for a 13-8 win over the Padres yesterday. I think there are enough significant advantages working in favor of the home side to warrant pulling the trigger in this matchup, play on the GIANTS.
