Money Line: -108.00 Washington (Away)
Result: Win
Money Line: -108.00 Washington (Away)
Result: Win
This is a 10* ASSASSIN on the Washington Nationals.
A couple of the league's best go head to head here, but for a number of different reasons I think that we're getting pretty good value on Scherzer and the visitors in this match-up. Scherzer has won four straight and is 5-3 with a 1.67 ERA overall this year; note that he's given up just three home runs in 64 2/3's innings of work overall. Scherzer has also given up just two runs over 22 innings in his past three starts and is 2-1 with a 1.00 ERA in four road outings, most recently giving up one run and four hits over eight innings in Friday's 2-1 home victory over the Phillies. Obviously this won't be a cake walk, the Cubs counter with ace Jon Lester (4-2, 3.56 ERA) who is 4-0 with a 1.85 ERA in five starts this month. As good as Lester has looked of late though, Scherzer will still get the slight nod on the bump from me, while the Nats line-up will definitely get the nod at the plate. And with those two crucial factors working in our favor, in my professional opinion, this is absolutely the very definition of "great line value;" play on the NATIONALS.
