Result: Win
Money Line: -140.00 Chi Cubs (Home)
Result: Win
This is an 8* play on the Chicago Cubs.
Chicago comes in motivated after a difficult road trip, most recently a 3-2, 11-innings loss to Milwaukee yesterday, capping a 2-5 trip. The home side turns to ace Jon Lester who is 2-2 with a 4.04 ERA; after a shaky start for his new team, Lester has settled in nicely, he most recently gave up three hits over seven frames in a 1-0 win over the Brewers on May 1st, before then giving up seven hits and four runs over seven innings in a 6-5 win over St. Louis on Wednesday (note that after the slow start, Lester is in fact enjoying a career-best 0.64 ERA in May). The visitors counter with Jacob DeGrom who is 3-3 with a 2.95 ERA, most recently racking up nine K's, while giving up one run over seven innings of a 5-1 win over Baltimore on Wednesday. Note though that in his only start vs. the Cubs at Wrigley Field back on June 5th, DeGrom gave up four runs over five innings in the 7-4 setback. I'm giving the nod to Lester on the mound and in my professional opinion, this is the very definition of "great line value;" play on the CUBS.
