This is a 10* play on the UNDER between the Houston Rockets and the LA Clippers.
I look for this total to fall below the posted number once the final horn blares. As with all of my Over/Under picks at this time of year, this pick is mainly based on situational factors: tied at 1-1 and heading to a new venue, I believe each team slows the pace down a bit here. LA can't get into another track meet and expect to win this contest, it needs to get in front of James Harden, especially as it will once again likely be without the services of all star guard and general energizer bunny Chris Paul. LA is in this series because of the Herculean efforts of Blake Griffin, but after six great quarters of domination, Houston made some significant adjustments and held the all star forward to just eight points in the second half of Game 2. As stated off the top, this is a great situational play in my opinion. But it becomes even stronger from an O/U trend based stand point, as note that Houston has in fact seen the total go UNDER the number in interestingly 30 of 51 this year vs. poor defensive teams which allow 99-plus points per contest, while LA has seen the total dip below the posted number in four of five this season after playing to three or more consecutive overs and in five of seven as a home favorite in the 3.5 to 6 points range. I think the writing is on the wall and a slower-paced, grind it out playoff battle is in the cards, this game can still be high-scoring and stay below this sky-high number and that's exactly what I'm expecting, play on the UNDER.
