I think the oddsmakers have over-estimated Jake Arrieta's value here, this is a great price on the home side. St. Louis took the first two games of this series, but the Cubs bounced back to win 6-5 yesterday. Arrieta is 3-2 with a 2.84 ERA and has enjoyed success vs. the Cards in the past, but note that he's coming off a dreadful outing in which he gave up four runs over the first two innings in a 6-1 loss to Milwaukee on Saturday. His counterpart is John Lackey who is 1-1 with a 3.69 ERA and who is coming off his best start of the season so far vs. Pittsburgh on Saturday, giving up one run over six innings, his team eventually prevailing 2-1 in 11 frames. Lackey has also enjoyed a lot of success vs. the Cubs in the past. Recent performance is always a factor that I take into account when handicapping a contest and obviously its a very important one when dealing with MLB; in my opinion, this is the very definition of great line value, play on the CARDINALS.
