Total: 5.00 | 127.00 Under
Result: Win
This is a 10* EASTERN-CONFERENCE PLAYOFF TOTAL OF THE MONTH on the OVER between the New York Islanders and the Washington Capitals.
For a number of different reasons I expect this total to eclipse the posted number as the game comes down the stretch. What's the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about these two teams? For me, it is dynamic, high-scoring offensive games, but for the most part, that's not been the case so far in this series. NY won 2-1 in OT in Game 1, Washington won 2-1 in OT in Game 2, the Isles got the come from behind 4-3 win in Game 3, before the Capitals battled back for the 4-1 win in Game 4. It's the all important Game 5, neither team can hold anything back today, so with that in mind, I believe that we can fully expect each side to push the pace of this one from the outset. Note that New York has seen the total go OVER the number in eight of 13 this year after scoring one goal or less in its previous contest, while Washington has seen the total sail above the posted number in six of its last ten after scoring four goals or more in its previous contest. In my opinion, the situation, the numbers and the trends do all indeed point to the OVER as the savvy move in this contest.
