This is a 10* ASSASSIN on the Baltimore Orioles.
I had the Orioles yesterday and these two teams would battle down to the wire, I'd ultimately have to settle for the short end of the stick in Baltimore's 6-5 setback. I think the home side bounces back in a big way today though and takes advantage of a pitcher that it's feasted on in recent seasons. CC Sabathia gave up five runs over 5 2/3's innings in a season opening 6-3 loss to Toronto on Thursday and is 0-4 with a 5.54 ERA in his last six regular-season starts at Camden Yards. And that's great news for Orioles slugger Adam Jones, who batted a team-high .344 off southpaws last year and who is 4 for 4 in 2015, while also posting a .304 lifetime average vs. Sabathia. The home side counters with Miguel Gonzalez, who is 0-1 with a 3.33 ERA in four career home outings vs. the Yanks. "Recent performance" always plays a part in my MLB handicapping, note that Gonzalez looked pretty good in a 2-0 defeat at Tampa Bay on Wednesday, giving up one run over 5 2/3's innings of work. These hard-hitting line-ups are a "wash" in my opinion, but Gonzalez will get the slight nod on the bump and in my opinion, that is indeed more than enough to tip the scales in favor of BALTIMORE tonight.
