Surely the Flyers will be motivated here, not only are they seeking a third straight win, but they're also looking to avoid an eighth loss in nine matchups with the visiting Hurricanes. Philadelphia is most recently coming off a 5-4 win over the Islanders on Tuesday and has posted at least one power-play goal in each of its last seven, going 9 for 23. Despite winning 3-2 in a shootout over the Flyers last Saturday, Carolina has been outscored 21-11 in non-shootout goals during a brutal 1-4-1 stretch, most recently coming off a 3-2 loss to Detroit on Tuesday. There's no comparison in goaltenders today either, note that Philadelphia's Steve Mason is 4-0-1 with a 1.78 GAA in a five-game stretch and has gone 11-2-4 with a 1.67 GAA in his last 18 home starts (Mason is also 6-3-1 with a 1.91 GAA vs. the Hurricanes). Conversely, Carolina goaltender Anton Khudobin is 0-4-3 with a 2.92 GAA over his last seven starts, while Cam Ward has given up four goals in each of his last three road games. And that's bad news for Hurricanes fans as the Flyers have averaged 4.4 goals in a 4-0-1 stretch in front of the home town crowd. I think PHILADELPHIA is definitely worthy of a second look in this spot.
