This is an 8* TOTAL ART OF THE GAME on the OVER between the Washington Wizards and the Chicago Bulls.
For a number of different reasons I expect this total to eclipse the posted number as the game comes down the stretch. Neither of these teams has been playing to many high-scoring affairs of late and despite each being a bit injured, I'm fully expecting a much faster paced game today. This is a great situational play in my opinion, Washington will be desperate to avoid an eight-game road losing streak, while Chicago will be eager to atone for a lacklustre 96-86 setback to the Clippers on Sunday. I think the home side will rally after losing both Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler to injury: "It's tough to lose players to injuries," said center Joakim Noah last night. "Nobody feels sorry for us. We'll be all right. Just come ready to work." The Bulls will definitely be pushing the pace today as they try to break out of this recent offensive slump which saw them being held to fewer than 90 points for the third time in their last four games in the setback to the Clippers. Chicago will also be playing with revenge today as it's lost five straight at home to the Wizards. Washington could obviously care less about the Bulls' issues, it had lost six straight before Saturday's 99-95 win over Detroit, looking much better in shooting 47.4 percent from the floor. So while both teams have struggled with offensive consistency of late, note that Washington has in fact seen the total go OVER the number in five of eight this year when playing with two days of rest and in 13 of 24 when playing against a team with a winning record. And note that Chicago has seen the total sail above the posted number in 18 of 31 home games this year. In my opinion, the situation, the numbers and the trends do all indeed point to the OVER as the savvy move in this contest.
