For a number of different reasons I expect this total to eclipse the posted number as the game comes down the stretch. Charlotte will be without Kemba Walker, but with Al Jefferson back and Gerald Henderson upping his overall contribution, I think the Hornets will be able to put some points on the board vs. the defensively anemic home side. Wednesday's 95-86 loss at San Antonio snapped a stretch in which Charlotte had won nine of its 11 previous. Denver won't be simply rolling over, it comes in highly motivated as well and it will be looking to atone for a 110-82 road loss to Charlotte on December 22nd. In fact, the Nuggets have lost eight of nine and are coming off the franchise's worst shooting performance in nearly 11 years, 33.3 percent and going 2 for 26 from 3-point range in Thursday's embarrassing 99-69 loss at Memphis: "In these kinds of situations, I'd have more respect if guys just told me that they didn't feel like playing from the start," coach Brian Shaw lamented afterwards. "I'm just sick and tired." Denver would also lost 101-98 to Charlotte at home on January 29th, 2014, making this a double revenge scenario. Two focused teams = production on the floor in my opinion. And note that the Hornets have seen the total go OVER the posted number in 12 of 21 road games this year and in 15 of 26 when playing the role of underdog. And note that Denver has seen the total sail above the posted number in 15 of 27 this year in revenging a loss vs. an opponent and in three of five after playing to three or more consecutive UNDERS. In my opinion, the situation, the numbers and the trends do all indeed point to the OVER as the sharp move in this one.
