Total: 5.50 | 109.00 Over
Result: Loss
This is an 8* O/U WEST-COAST EXPRESS on the UNDER between the Arizona Coyotes and the Chicago Blackhawks.
Both teams have been pretty proficient in putting the biscuit in the basket of late, but I think the conditions are finally right for a lower-scoring affair and ultimatley expect this total to fall below the posted number once the final horn blares. Chicago has been struggling on the defensive end of the ice and would love nothing more than to takes its frustrations out on the lowly Coyotes, who will desperately be trying to avoid a sixth straight loss. Chicago rolled through December with a 10-2-1 record, but is just 3-5-0 in 2015, giving up a whopping 27 non-shootout goals in the process. Most recently the Blackhawks are coming off a listless 6-3 home loss to Dallas on Sunday: "I think it's already a concern," assessed Hawks' forward Brandon Saad last night. "With the skill in here, we're going to score goals, but the main objective here (is) we've got to keep them out of our net." Arizona has dropped six of seven on the road after falling 4-3 in a shootout to Winnipeg on Sunday; suffice it to say, I think the Coyotes will be risking life and limb getting into shooting and passing lanes as they try to steal one before the All-Star break. This play however is mainly based on strong UNDER trends that each team has exhibited in this spot, note that Arizona has seen the total go UNDER the number in five of its last eight after three or more consecutive losses, while Chicago has seen it dip below the posted number in five of eight his year after allowing four goals or more in its previous contest. In my opinion, the situation, the numbers and the trends do all indeed point to the UNDER as the savvy move in this one.
