This is an 8* BLOWOUT on Miami.
I think this game "means" more to the Hurricanes. Al Golden is essentially playing for his head coaching job at The U. Golden is under immense pressure, but is 28-21 as his fourth season as boss comes to a close. Miami though is 8-10 in its last 18 games overall, including dropping three straight after a 35-23 loss to Pittsburgh on November 29th. The Hurricanes have also lost four-straight bowl games: "We're responsible for the record at the end of the day. I'm responsible for the record," Golden continued. "Overall as a team we need to perform better. ... Some of the older guys, we need them to stay positive, finish what they started, continue to improve and try to get us our first (bowl game) win in forever." One player to keep your eyes on today is Hurricanes RB Duke Johnson, who had a break out campaign by finishing with 1,520 yards and 10 TD's, earning first team all-ACC honors. South Carolina is also coming off a sub-par season, finishing 6-6, failing miserably after being ranked No. 9 in some preseason polls. The Gamecocks defense is a joke and I think will get run over today; note that South Carolina gave up 433 or more yards in nine of 12 games and an average of 31.8 points overall. Johnson and company should have a very productive day, the Gamecocks would allow nine players to rush for 100 yards, the post Jadeveon Clowney era was clearly a difficult one for South Carolina's defensive unit. In my opinion, the difference maker will be South Carolina's shoddy defense, making MIAMI the sharp wager here.
