Point Spread: -5.00 | -115.00 San Diego (Home)
Result: Loss
This is an 8* BLOCKBUSTER on the San Diego Chargers.
San Diego is coming off its first win in over a month and I think will also find a way to get the job done here today, not only SU but also ATS. Philip Rivers was enjoying a resurgent season before the slide and wasn't overly impressive in last week's 13-6 home win over Oakland which snapped a three-game slide for the Bolts. Despite the scuffling, the Chargers will be looking for their eighth win in their last nine home games, they sit just one game back of AFC West co-leaders Denver and Kansas City. From a situational stand point for the visitors, this definitely sets up as a letdown spot after stunning the Broncos in last week's 22-7 victory. Note that the Rams have follwed recent victories over Seattle and San Francisco with blowout losses at Kansas City and Arizona. I also think that the Rams will have their hands full with RB Ryan Mathews who returned last week and ran for 70 yards on 16 carries. And note that the Chargers looked much better defensively last week, holding the Raiders to two FG's and 71 yards on the ground. Note that St. Louis is just 2-3 ATS on the road this year, while San Diego is already a perfect 2-0 ATS this season in non-conference games. All signs do indeed point to the CHARGERS as the savvy move in this one.
