This is an 8* TOTAL BLOCKBUSTER on the OVER between Baylor and South Carolina.
Both of these teams are coming off opening victories, the Gamecocks will look to start 2-0 for the second time in three seasons, they'd crush North Florida 81-56 on Friday. Baylor would annihilate McNeese State 80-39 on Friday. Both of their opening night games went UNDER the number, but for a number of different reasons I feel we'll see a faster-paced, higher-scoring shootout today and look for this total to eclipse the number as the game comes down the stretch. South Carolina looked pretty good under first year Head coach Frank Martin, leading by 21 at half time; Tyrone Johnson and Demetrius Henry led the way with 12 point apiece. Mandingaus Kacinas added nine points and 11 rebounds. Many contributed though as the Gamecocks would go on to shoot 50.9 percent from the floor, including 36.4 percent from behind the arc. South Carolina also dominated the baords, a 38-22 advantage. For Baylor, it was just a pure blowout from the start, the team took the pedal off the gas early in the second frame; we won't expect the Bears to do that today though. Deng Deng only played 16 minutes but led the team with 16 points, he hit eight of his nine shots overall. Baylor would go on to shoot 51.7 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Cowboys 47-23. Note that Baylor has seen the total go OVER the number in its last three as a road dog of 3 point or less, while South Carolina has seen it sail above the number in eight of its last 14 non-conference contests. Both of these teams have something to prove, look for Baylor to push this one from the outset, the younger Gamecocks will be forced to match pace; a faster game = more shots and more shots = more points. All signs do indeed point to the OVER as the sharp move here.
