First, note this is a very early Labor Day start time. The Mets had to fly in from New York. That makes it tough on the hitters, especially New York's batters.
 
Note, too, that these offenses have been in hibernation. That's been the case all season for the Pirates, who rank among the bottom three teams in runs, batting average and OPS. Pittsburgh has scored nine runs in its last five games, an average of less than two per game. 

The Mets scored a combined two runs in their last two games - against the Nationals. New York has scored three or fewer runs in nine of its last 12 games. 

The pitching matchup is stronger than its looks on paper with Taijuan Walker, 10-3, 3.45 ERA, facing Mitch Keller, 4-10, 4.43 ERA. Walker is 6-0 with a 1.23 ERA in day games this year. Keller is going through his most consistent stretch giving up two earned runs or fewer in six of his past nine stars. 

Weather-wise, there's just a slight wind and it will be blowing in.
