Stephen Nover's MLB Thursday Free Play
(MLB) Chi Cubs vs. Pittsburgh,
Money Line: -132.00 Chi Cubs (Away)
Result: Win
The ERA's look nearly the same. Kyle Hendricks has a 4.74 ERA. Tyler Anderson's ERA is 4.73. But that's where the similarities end.

Hendricks is one of the better pitchers in the National League. He's come on after his typical bad April to post a 2.36 ERA in four starts this month with a 21-to-3 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Hendricks has allowed two runs or less in eight of his last nine starts when facing the Pirates in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh has scored the fewest runs per game in the majors and also hit the fewest homers.

Hendricks is backed by a Cubs bullpen that has been dominant the past 10 games only allowing an unearned run in 32 1/3 innings.

Anderson's ERA is in line with his career marks of 4.81 in 2017, 4.55 in 2018, 11.76 in limited innings in 2019 and 4.37 last year when he was with the Giants. Anderson is off his worst of the season. The Braves lit him up for nine runs in five innings in a 20-1 road loss last Friday. Anderson surrendered three homers in that game.
