#919/920 ASA PLAY ON Over 8.5 Runs - Houston Astros vs Oakland Athletics, Monday at 8:10 PM ET - The Astros are expected to start Spencer Arrighetti here and the A's are expected to go with Ross Stripling. Houston's Arrighetti has gone 0-4 with an 8.44 ERA in his 5 starts this season and opponents are hitting .333 against him. Stripling was 0-5 with a 5.36 ERA last season and he is already 1-6 with a 5.14 ERA this season. Stripling has been hit and miss this season so he has had some decent outings but he just got crushed in most recent outing and also has given up a lot of hits in his road starts and is likely to struggle here at Houston. The Astros have scored 5 runs per game last 4 games overall. Also, in home games they have scored 8 runs per game last 6 games! As for the A's they have gotten better as the season has gone on and they have scored much better since late April. Also, you are looking at a bad Astros bullpen in terms of ERA year to date and the A's pen, despite decent numbers, is certainly not one of our favorites in the league. This Oakland team does have an overall team ERA of 4.31 on the season and the Astros are even worse with a 4.96 ERA thus far. The combination of factors above related to starters, bullpens and current trending with these batting lineups will help to turn this into a high-scoring back and forth battle. Over is the call in this one Monday evening.
