ASA PLAY ON Houston Texans -120 vs. Chicago Bears – HOF – Thursday, Aug 1 8 PM ET - With this line in the -1 to -1.5 range at the time of this posting, we are going with the money line price in a very fair offering of the -120 to -125 range. The first aspect of this game we will discuss is the QB rotations for both teams. Depth is critical in NFLx games, and the deeper teams have a clear advantage later in the game. The Bears have not come out publicly with how much rookie QB Caleb Williams will play so it looks like Tyson Bagent, Brett Rypien and Austin Reed will take the majority of snaps. Bagent saw limited action last season for the Bears going 2-3 SU with a QBR less than 27 in two of the games. Rypien has played in 10 career games in the NFL completing 98 of 168 passes with 4 TD’s to 9 INT’s. Williams and Reed are both rookies with zero NFL game experience. The Texans on the other hand have a solid QB depth chart with CJ Stroud, Davis Mills, Case Keenum and Tim Boyle. Stroud is not expected to play Thursday, but Davis/Keenum have a combined 114 career NFL games under center, including several starts. Tim Boyle has even played in 20 games dating back to 2019. Offensively overall the Texans were better than the Bears a season ago ranking 12th in yards per play (5.4) compared to the Bears at 24th averaging 5.0YPPL. Defensively these two teams were relatively even allowing 5.2YPPL (Houston) and 5.3YPPL (Chicago). The Texans had a +1.6PPG differential, the Bears were minus -1.1PPG in 2023-24. The Texans were the better overall team a year ago and have a much better QB rotation than Chicago in this HOF matchup. Play on Houston.
