His most recent outing was a dominating effort against the Orioles and another Yankees win. New York has won each of his last four starts. The Royals start Carlos Hernandez and he is off back to back strong starts against a White Sox team that was slumping when he saw them. This is helping to give some value here because Hernandez did allow 7 earned runs in less than 7 innings over his two appearances preceding the success against the White Sox. Overall in terms of team edges note that the Royals play in the only division in baseball with just one team currently having a winning record. The Yankees, on the other hand, are in the only division in the majors with four teams above .500 and, in fact, all four teams are at least ten games above .500 entering Monday's action. The reason this is important is just look at what these teams have done in AL action outside of their own division. The Yankees are a combined 28-14 against the Central and West while the Royals are a combined 14-28 against the East and West. The strength of division angle speaks volumes here and the Yankees hold the situational edge with KC off a road win and with the fact New York enters this game off the shutout loss. They should improve to 7-0 on the season when in that situation with yet another win today.
