#786 ASA FREE PLAY ON Florida State -10.5 over UNC Greensboro, Saturday at 12:45 PM ET - This is a terrible match up for UNCG. They were able to overwhelm SOCON opponents with their athleticism and pressure. That ain’t happening here as FSU just might be the most athletic team in the tourney. Basically UNCG on steroids. The Noles have struggled at times turning the ball over but those were some of the top turnover causing ACC teams, we think they’ll handle UNCG’s pressure. FSU is one of the top offensive team in the nation ranking 10th in offensive efficiency and 9th in 3-point percentage. We think they’ll have plenty of success here vs a Greensboro defense that is decent but not great. The Spartans ranked 66th nationally in defensive efficiency which would have ranked 8th in the ACC so the Noles have been successful vs a number of defenses ranked higher than UNCG. The Seminoles are one of the deepest teams in the nation and they are the TALLEST team in the country which should cause problems for this smaller conference opponent. FSU is a high level defense allowing just 40% shooting on the season ranking 23rd in the country. That’s a huge problem for the Spartans that are NOT a good shooting team. They rank 254th in eFG% and 312th from beyond the arc. For UNCG to be successful they must be able to score inside. That won’t happen here. FSU is 11th nationally defending inside the arc and 8th in the country at blocking shots. So the only chance the Spartans have is to hit their 3’s which they don’t take very often and are poor at when they do. When the team with inferior talent shoots 42% on the year and 30 % from 3 and the team with superior talent hits 47% and 39%, the chances of an upset are slim to none. FSU rolls to a big win here.
