#793 ASA TOP PLAY ON 10* Quinnipiac +3.5 over Canisius, Sunday at 1:00 PM ET - Really tough spot for Canisius here. Because of Covid protocol they haven’t played a game since January 2nd which is a full 28 days. On top of that they’ve barely practiced. Their head coach Witherspoon mentioned this week that they’ve had maybe 4 or 5 practices since the start of January. As of Tuesday this team had not even resumed regular practices yet and were hoping to get at least one in before this game. Now they are favored vs a Quinnipiac team that is just 2-4 in MAAC play but they’ve been very competitive. Their 4 losses in conference play have come by 3, 3, 7, and in a loss in OT. The Bobcats also have some momentum heading into this one after beating Niagara 78-69 last Saturday in a game that was their best offensive performance of the year when they averaged 1.16 PPP. If their offense shows up at all, they should win this game. Quinnipiac can struggle on that end of the court but their defense is outstanding. They rank 3rd nationally in eFG% defense, 3rd in 2 point FG% defense, and 12th in 3 point FG% defense. They are facing a Canisius team that does not shoot the ball well ranking 302nd nationally in eFG% and 3 point %. Now with no practice and a long layoff facing a fantastic defensive team, this will be a very tough game for Canisius. Teams with long breaks have no done well this year as to be expected. If they are coming off at least 14 days without a game, those teams are 47-64 ATS this season. Canisius has had a full 4 weeks off. Not only that they are laying points. We like Quinnipiac here.
