#461/462 ASA PLAY ON 8* Over 52 Points – Carolina @ Kansas City, Sunday at 1:00 PM ET - We were on KC Under last week vs the Jets. We felt KC would score plenty of points, get a solid lead, and then go conservative and milk clock. That’s exactly what happened as the halftime score was 21-9 and after KC scored the first TD of the 3rd quarter they were able to shut it down. We knew the Jets, the worst scoring team in the NFL, weren’t going to be able to keep up and they didn’t scoring just 9 points. This week is much different. KC will again be able to score plenty of points vs a Carolina defense that ranks 20th in the NFL in rushing yards allowed and 14th in passing yards allowed. The Chiefs have scored 30+ in 5 of their 8 games this year and we expect they will do the same here. The only teams that held them under 30 were Buffalo (KC had plenty of chances and 466 total yards), LA Chargers (again plenty of chances for KC and 414 yards) and New England (slowed the game down and KC ran just 54 offensive snaps). The Panther defense in their last 3 games has allowed 23 points to the Bears (28th in the NFL in scoring), 25 points to Atlanta (14th in scoring) and 27 to the Saints. KC is averaging 31.5 PPG and will put up plenty of points here. The difference this week? The Panthers are much better offensively than the Jets, KC’s opponent last week. The Panthers rank 12th in offensive efficiency (KC is #1) while the Jets are dead last by a wide margin (Football Outsiders). Carolina has scored at least 21 points in 4 of their last 6 games and if they get to that here, this one should go OVER. Plus the Panthers get their top offensive weapon RB McCaffrey back in the line up for this game. With the total set at 52 and KC sitting as a 10 point favorite, the projected final score in 31-21. We anticipate both teams topping those numbers. Take the OVER.
