A few days after upsetting ninth-ranked Oklahoma, the Horned Frogs beat second-ranked Houston, as senior forward Emanuel Miller clinched the game with six seconds left. Both teams shot under 45 percent overall, but Houston was just 4-for-18 (22.2%) from three and TCU shot 8-for-15 (53.3%).
Like TCU, Cincinnati faced three straight ranked teams: #12 BYU, #25 Texas, and #14 Baylor. The Bearcats beat BYU but lost to the Longhorns and Bears by four total points. They scored only 59 points in the loss to BU, as they shot under 40 percent from the field, including 19.0 percent from long range, and didn't get the job done at the free-throw line. That said, the Cincy defense is stout, as they held both BYU and Baylor to season-lows in scoring.
With Bearcats' starting center Aziz Bandaogo (8.4 PPG, 8.8 RPG, and 1.4 BPG) questionable and forward CJ Frederick (7.5 PPG) out, they aren't at full strength. If Bandaogo, who sat out the Baylor game, is unavailable, I expect the Horned Frogs to thrive at the rim. This season, they're shooting 61.4 percent at the rim and attempt more than 50 percent of their shots from there. In what should be a low-scoring contest, that will make all the difference.
