Washington with Irvin on the mound has been excellent for them so far. He’s only given up 2 runs in his last three starts while striking out 23 batters. He has been so solid that he’s going to check a lot of the Mets offense and he’s going to go deep into the game; last game he started he stayed in for eight innings. Both pitchers face the same lineup they had a week ago and that game resulted in a 1-0 final. The Mets put up Quintana who has been better on the road this season, however, he also pitched against Washington a week ago in that game, and he only gave up 4 hits and no earned runs. Washington struggled with St. Louis yesterday and their offense has cooled right down, so this will be another game where Quintana checks a lot of the Mets offense but the team does not come up with the bat support. They did poorly in their last series and got shut out yesterday. This game isn’t going to see a lot of runs and this should end up under the total. The Under is 4-1 in the Nationals last 5 games as a road underdog of +201 or greater. The Under is 3-1-1 in the Mets last 5 games as a favorite.
