Vanderbilt is coming into this game with a 5-3 record this season and they are 2-2 in the conference. They are coming off of a close 27-24 loss at home against Texas in their last game and they have played some very close games against quality opponents this year. They beat Alabama at home earlier this season as well as beating Kentucky on the road, and their only other conference loss was in OT on the road against Missouri, losing by just 3 points. They are going up against an Auburn team that is 3-5 this season and they are 1-4 in the conference. They are coming off of a 24-10 win on the road against Kentucky in their last game, but Kentucky is 1 of 2 teams that are lower than Auburn in the SEC right now. Prior to that win, they had lost 4 straight games in the conference with 2 of those coming by 10+ points. Only 2 of their conference games have been against SEC opponents who are currently ranked as well, losing to both Georgia and Missouri. Vanderbilt has had a much stronger schedule this season and they are still above .500, and a lot of that has to do with Diego Pavia and the other players that Jerry Kill brought over from New Mexico State last season. Pavia is going to find ways to score points like he has all season against better defenses and he is going to keep his team in this game. Auburn has also been averaging more runs than passes per game this season and Vanderbilt has a good run defense, only allowing 114.8 rushing yards per game. This is a game that Vanderbilt can win straight up, but they will keep it very close in a loss as well. Vanderbilt will cover the spread in this game.
