Alabama is coming into this game with a 5-1 record this season and they are 2-1 in the conference. They were playing very well at the beginning of the season, but they have struggled in their last 3 games against SEC opponents. They got their 1st conference win of the season against Georgia and that was a huge win for them, but they were up 28-0 to start that game and collapsed in the 2nd half, allowing Georgia to come back and even take the lead before Alabama went on to win 41-34. They have been struggling a lot more in their last 2 games as well, losing to Vanderbilt right after that Georgia win and then bouncing back last week with a 27-25 win at home against South Carolina, a game that got very sketchy for them at the end. They are going up against a Tennessee team that is also 5-1 this season and 2-1 in the conference. Their loss came on the road against Arkansas while their 2 wins were on the road against Oklahoma and at home to Florida. They only beat Florida 23-17 in OT in their last game and needed a late comeback to force OT, but their defense has been playing very well since they started conference play. They have not allowed 20 points in any of their 3 conference games this season or in any of their 6 games overall. Their run defense is only allowing 79.7 rushing yards per game, 2.2 yards per carry, and their pass defense averaging 170.2 passing yards allowed per game. The run game has been a big part of this Alabama offense all season and Tennessee has the defense to disrupt their gameplan just like South Carolina did last week. Alabama has also been more vulnerable to the run game themselves on defense this season and this is a very good run game in Tennessee that is averaging 246.2 rushing yards per game and 5.4 yards per carry. Alabama is going to struggle on the road against this Tennessee defense and Tennessee will be able to exploit Alabama's weaknesses on defense. Tennessee will cover the spread in this game.
