LA Tech is coming into this game with a 2-3 record this season and they have not been playing that well. They are coming off of a 48-21 win against Middle Tennessee at home but they are one of the worst teams in the conference. LA Tech has played in 2 road games this season and both of them were losses, losing by 10 to NC State and by 7 to FIU. They also have a home loss to Tulsa and their only win this season other than last week was in their season opener, beating an FCS team by just 8 points. They are going up against a New Mexico State team that is 1-5 this season but they have been playing much better than their record suggests. They are coming off of an awful loss against Jacksonville State in their last game, losing 54-13 on the road, but they have been much better at home this season. They have played in 3 home games this season, winning 1 of those against an FCS team, but even their 2 losses were much closer. Their last game at home was a 10 point loss to New Mexico who plays in a stronger conference and they also lost by just 7 points to Liberty who is undefeated and has been the best team in their conference over the last year. LA Tech has been defending the run well this season, but New Mexico State has a very good run game and they were able to score 40 points in their last home game by running the ball efficiently. LA Tech just allowed 21 points at home against a struggling Middle Tennessee offense as well, and they have not scored more than 20 points in either of their road games so New Mexico State will keep this game closer at home.
