Money Line: -154.00 Padres (SDP) (Home)
Result: Win
The Dodgers are coming into this game off of a 10-2 loss at home to the Padres in their last game which tied the series 1-1. They are going up against a Padres team that is going to have some confidence coming back home with the series tied since the Dodgers have only won 1 of their 5 games in San Diego this season. The Padres had to play in the Wild Card while the Dodgers did not, but the Padres have been hot as they swept the Braves in 2 games and their offense has scored at least 5 runs in each of their last 3 games. Even their pitching has been good as they have allowed 2 runs or less in 2 of those 4 games, and they are going to have one of their better starters here as well. Michael King is starting for the Padres and he is 13-9 with a 2.95 ERA this season. He pitched in the Wild Card against the Braves and was great, allowing no runs in 7 innings and striking out 12 batters as well. He has been pitching very well going back to the regular season as well as he ended the year allowing 2 earned runs or less in 8 straight starts and just 1 earned run or less in 6 of those 8 starts. He has also seen the Dodgers 4 times this season and was awful in his first 2 starts against them which were both back in April, but he has been much better in his last 2 starts against the Dodgers as he has allowed no earned runs in 12 innings combined. Walker Buehler is starting for the Dodgers in this game and he is 1-6 with a 5.38 ERA this season. He has pitched well recently as he has allowed 1 earned run or less in 2 of his last 3 starts, but he has also allowed at least 4 earned runs in 2 of his last 4 starts. His last start was actually against the Padres at home on Sept 26 and he allowed 1 earned run in 5 innings, but he did struggle in his 1 start in San Diego this season, allowing 3 earned runs in 3 innings. The Padres are going to score runs here at home with the way their bats have been hitting and Buehler has been off for over a week which could affect how he pitches in a year where he is still trying to find his rhythm coming back from an injury. The Padres will win this game at home.
