Miami is coming into this game with a 2-0 record this season and they are making a case for themselves as the best team in the ACC this season. They are coming off of a 56-9 win against Florida A&M in their last game, but they were very impressive in their 1st game of the season against a stronger opponent. They played a rivalry game on the road against Florida in week 1 and they blew them out 41-17. Cam Ward was great for Washington State last season and now he has settled into the starting quarterback role at Miami nicely. They are going up against a Ball State team that is 1-0 this season, but they have only played the 1 game and it was at home against an FCS team. They beat Missouri State 42-34, but their defense allowed 34 points and struggled to keep a much weaker team from scoring. Ball State was also losing that game and had to make a comeback, now they will be on the road against possibly the best team in the ACC this year. Ball State was able to stop the run in that 1st game, but they got picked apart through the air by an FCS team and Miami has a much better passing offense led by Cam Ward. Miami also has a great defense that is going to cause problems for Ball State and their ability to move the ball in this game. Miami will be able to stop the run as Ball State was not very efficient on the ground in their 1st game, and their pass defense has been great as they are averaging 130 yards allowed through the air in their 2 games. Moving the ball is going to be a struggle for Ball State all game against this Miami defense while Miami has too much quality in their offense to be stopped by the Ball State defense. Miami will cover the spread in this game.
