AMEDEUS' MLB BOOKIE BATTER!
(MLB) Arizona vs. Chi Cubs,
Money Line: -124.00 Chi Cubs (Home)
Result: Win
The Diamondbacks are coming into this game with a 51-48 record this season and they have been playing well in their recent games as they have won both games coming out of the break. They beat the Cubs 5-2 on Friday and 3-0 on Saturday, but the Cubs will be hungry to bounce back here and avoid being swept at home in this series. Shota Imanaga is starting for the Cubs in this game and he is 8-2 with a 2.97 ERA this season. He has been pitching very well all season and has not been allowing many runs recently. He has allowed 3 earned runs in 2 of his last 3 starts, but he is coming off of a start which he allowed no runs in 6 innings. He also has 14 strikeouts between his last 2 starts so he has the ability to shut down this Diamondbacks offense since they have not scored that many runs in their 2 wins in this series. The Cubs offense has struggled in this series as they have only scored 2 runs in their 2 games coming out of the break, but they are going to have an easier time trying to score in this game. Brandon Pfaadt is starting for the Diamondbacks in this game and he is 4-6 with a 3.97 ERA this season. He has been pitching very well recently as he has only allowed 2 earned runs total in his last 3 starts, but he has also had 3 of his last 4 starts at home where he has been much better this season. He has allowed at least 3 runs in 6 of his last 7 road starts and has allowed at least 4 earned runs in 3 of his last 5 starts on the road. He only allowed 1 earned run in his last road start against the Padres, but that is also the only start this season that he did not make it 5 innings in. He has not been striking out as many batters in his recent road starts and he has also been giving up a lot of hits in general. The Cubs are going to be hungry to avoid the sweep at home and they will be pushing to score some runs after getting shut out on Saturday. Pfaadt should give the Cubs offense a spark here with the way he has pitched on the road this season and that will be enough with Imanaga shutting down the other side. The Cubs will win this game at home.
