(MLB) Tampa Bay vs. Kansas City,
Money Line: -118.00 Kansas City (Home)
Result: Loss
The Rays are coming into this game with a 42-42 record this season and their offense has been cooling off in their recent games. They won their last series against the Nationals over the weekend, but the Nats are not a very strong team and the Rays did not score a lot of runs in that series. They have actually lost 2 of their last 4 games and they have been averaging under 3 runs scored per game in that span. They are going up against a Royals team that is 47-39 this season and they have also been much better at home at 30-16. They have been heating up recently as they have won 4 of their last 5 games and their offense has been good in these as they have scored at least 6 runs in 2 of their last 3 games. Their pitching has been great in these games as well as they have allowed 2 runs or less in 5 of their last 7 games and have been averaging under 3 runs allowed per game in that span. Zack Littell is starting for the Rays in this game and he is 2-5 with a 4.17 ERA this season. He has been pitching much better in his recent starts as he has not been allowing as many runs recently, but he has still allowed at least 2 earned runs in each of his last 9 starts. Littell has not been getting blown up in his starts this year, but he consistently allows runs when he does start and that is going to be a problem against an offense like the Royals who have been heating up recently and have been much better at home this season. Brady Singer is starting for the Royals in this game and he is 4-4 with a 3.12 ERA this season. He had a rough start to June with some very bad starts, but he has bounced back nicely as he has allowed just 1 earned run in each of his last 2 starts. He has also been very consistent this season as he has allowed 2 earned runs or less in 4 of his last 7 starts. The Rays have been on a hot streak but even in their most recent wins they have not been scoring a lot of runs as their offense is cooling off, and they are going to struggle to find runs here with Singer pitching so well. Singer also allowed just 1 earned run against the Rays in a 7-4 win against them back in May. The Royals are going to win this game.
