Money Line: 101.00 Toronto (Away)
Result: Loss
The Blue Jays are coming into this game with a 4-4 record this season and they are coming off of a 3-0 win against the Yankees in their last game. They have been playing well recently as they have won 2 of their last 3 as well as 3 of their last 5 games. Their offense has not been great recently but their pitching has been very good as they have allowed just 1 run or less in 2 of their last 3 as well as allowing 2 runs or less in 3 of their last 5 games. They are going up against a Yankees team that is off to a very hot 6-2 start to the season, but they have not been great recently as their 2 losses this season both came in their last 3 games. Their offense has not been good in those either as they have been shut out in 2 of their last 3 games. They only gave up 3 runs in that loss to the Blue Jays, but even their pitching staff has allowed at least 5 runs against them in each of their last 2 games prior to that Blue Jays game. The good pitching is going to continue for the Blue Jays in this game as well as they have Kevin Gausman starting here. Kevin Gausman is 0-0 with a 2.08 ERA this season as he allowed 1 earned run in a little over 4 innings pitched against the Rays in his 1st start of the season. He is coming off of a very good season which he finished with a 3.16 ERA and he allowed no runs in his last 2 straight as well as 3 of his 4 starts against the Yankees last season, allowing just 2 runs total against the Yankees in 4 different appearances, pitching at least 6 innings in each of those games as well. The Yankees have Clarke Schmidt starting in this game and he is 0-0 with a 5.06 ERA this season. He allowed 3 earned runs in a little over 5 innings pitched against the Yankees in his 1st start of the season and he struggled against the Blue Jays last season as he allowed at least 3 earned runs in both starts against them, giving up 4 earned runs in his last start against the Jays and finishing last season with a 4.64 ERA as well. The pitching has been much better for the Blue Jays in recent games and they should get a spark with their offense here as well. The Blue Jays will win this game.
