The Mariners are coming into this game playing very well recently as they are trying to make a playoff push and they have won their last 2 straight as well as 5 of their last 7 games. Their offense has also been much better in these games as they have scored at least 8 runs in each of their last 2 games. They are going up against a Diamondbacks team that has not been playing well recently as they did have the lead of the NL West for a good majority of the season but have now slipped down to 3rd place as their offense has been cooling off while their pitching has not been great. They have lost 6 of their last 7 games scoring just 3 runs or less in 3 of their last 5 and they have also allowed at least 7 runs in 3 of their last 4 as well as 5 of their last 7 games. Logan Gilbert is starting for the Mariners and he is 8-5 with a 3.88 ERA this season. He has been very consistent all season for the Mariners, he did allow 5 earned runs in his last start but he also allowed 2 earned runs or less in 3 of his last 4 as well as 5 of his last 7 starts and he will be hungry to bounce back with a better start here. The Diamondbacks have also been cooling down on offense so he will have an easier time shutting down the D-backs since they have not been as good at home as they have been on the road this year. Tommy Henry is starting for the Diamondbacks and he is 5-3 with a 4.01 ERA this season. He has also been pitching well this season but he does consistently allow at least 3 runs in a lot of his starts and he is going to get himself into trouble with this Mariners offense heating up now. He has also allowed at least 3 earned runs in each of his last 2 starts and has been gradually allowing more runs in each of his last 3 starts, all games that his team lost as well as the bullpen has not been great either. The Mariners will be able to shut down the cooling Diamondbacks offense here with better pitching and even the Mariners offense has been more potent than the Diamondbacks recently.
