The Cincinnati Reds are battling the Chicago Cubs and three other teams for the last wild-card spot. Jameson Taillon will get the start for the Cubs while the Reds will counter with Carson Spiers. The Cubs were looking to put distance between them and the Reds and it looked like they were going to do it. They took the first game of their doubleheader Friday and were winning the second game in the ninth but lost that game as well. Jameson Taillon is 7-9 with a 5.62 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP. Cincinnati has to be feeling good right now, with back-to-back ninth-inning comeback wins. Carson Spiers will look to keep the momentum going. He will be making his first start for the Reds. The Reds signed Hunter Renfroe and Harrison Bader off waivers to sure up a lineup hit by injuries. The return of Jake Fraley should also help the offensive output. Jameson Taillon has been inconsistent this season and over 9.2 innings against the Reds, he has allowed 6 runs on 13 hits. He also has an ERA over 6 in August. The Reds have to feel good after their last two wins and I like them at home in this one.
