Result: Win
The Tampa Bay Rays take on the Seattle Mariners in Seattle. Tampa Bay welcomes back Shane McClanahan to the mound. He has been outstanding this season, posting an 11-1 record with a 2.23 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP in 16 starts. Seattle will send Bryce Miller to the mound. He is 5-3 this season with a 3.88 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP in ten starts. The Rays are putting up 5.52 runs per game and as a staff, they have posted a 3.62 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP. McClanahan left his last start in the fourth inning because of back tightness. He has allowed two or fewer runs in 14 of his 16 starts. The M's have lost four of their last five overall. The Mariners put up 4.47 runs a game and as a staff, they have posted a 3.81 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP. Miller has been inconsistent this season. Unhittable in some starts but very hittable in others. The Rays are 5-1 in their last six meetings with the Mariners. The Mariners are 1-6 in their last seven games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 7-21 in their last 28 games vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15. What we get out of McClanahan will go a long way in determining whether we cash or not. Seattle has not been hitting this season, even at home. I like the Rays to come out on top in this one.
