The Philadelphia Phillies took care of the Chicago Cubs yesterday and will look to build on that momentum with Aaron Nola on the mound against Drew Smyly. Nola is 6-5 this season with a 4.38 ERA. He went six shutout innings in his last start against Atlanta. He has made one start against the Cubs this season, going seven innings and allowing just two runs in the win. Over his last five starts, he is 2-2 with a 3.94 ERA. For the Cubs, Smyly is 7-4 with a 3.38 ERA; over his last five starts, he is 2-3 with a 4.94 ERA. The Cubs just returned from the London series and looked sluggish last night. They have a horrendous schedule over the next month with only the All-Star break as their only time off. Smyly has struggled with walks this season and the Phillies are patient at the plate and they could see some additional baserunners. Nola has had success against the Cubs and with them still dealing with the Cubs dealing with the London travel, I like Nola in this spot.
