The Golden Gophers had a nice run this season and finished the season strong having won six out of their last eight games overall. The Gophers offense was hit by injuries, especially at the running back position, but their defense stepped up and carried the team. West Virginia made a bowl game despite going 4-5 in the Big 12 conference. The WVU offense doesn't do a lot to scare the opposition and they will find it hard to do anything against the Gopher defense. WVU likes to pass the ball but will be facing the 11th best past defense in the country and their top running back has opted out for this game. Despite losses at the running back position at the beginning of the season, they still had a potent running attack led by Ky Thomas and Mar’Keise Irving. The Gophers rushed for 195 yards a game. West Virginia allowed 28 or more points in four out of their last seven games of the season. The Mountaineers are averaging 23.3 points a game and they give up 26.6. The Gophers are putting up 26.1 points a game and giving up 18.3
