The Michigan Wolverines open the season against the Western Michigan Broncos in the Big House. Western Michigan finished last season with a 4-2 record while the Wolverines had a disastrous year, at just 2-4.

The Broncos started the season at 4-0, but lost their last two games of the season. Last year, the offense averaged 480 yards and 42 points per game. Nine starters are back on offense and another nine return on defense. Kaleb Eleby threw for 1,715 yards and 18 touchdowns last season and finished third in the nation in passing efficiency behind only Mac Jones and Zach Wilson. La’Darius Jefferson leads the rushing attack after rushing for 624 yards and five scores last season.

This is could be the last year of Harbaugh at Michigan Michigan lost four of their final five games, losing to Michigan State and finishing the season with a 27-17 loss to Penn State. Covid saved them from being embarrassed by Ohio State. Cade McNamarawill make the start for the Wolverines at quarterback. He threw for 425 yards with five touchdowns last season. The rushing attack is led by Hassan Haskins and Blake Corum. They also have an experienced receiving corps. They return nine on defense and will have a new D coordinator.

The Broncos are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 road games and 2-8-1 ATS in their last 11 as an underdog. WMU is 1-6 ATS in their last seven as a road underdog. The Wolverines are 4-1 ATS in their last five as a home favorite and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 versus the MAC. Michigan was 79th in rushing defense, 96th in passing defense, and 89th in total defense, and 95th-place ranking in scoring defense. With a new D Coordinator, I expect them to be better on that side of the ball. Michigan is bigger and more talented and I think they will wear down the Broncos in the trenches and get the cover late.

Play on Michigan.
