The Chicago Cubs dropped a weekend series against the White Sox over the weekend while the Twins are coming off a win versus the Detroit Tigers on Monday. The Cubs recorded a 7-0 win on Saturday but gave up 30 runs in the other two games, both losses. The Cubs will send out Zach Davies to face the Twins. He has posted a 5.00 ERA in 131.1 innings with 102 strikeouts and 64 walks. The Twins came away with a close 3-2 win over the Tigers yesterday. They will counter by sending John Gant to the mound. He has posted a 6.75 ERA this season, in 16.0 innings with 20 strikeouts and 6 walks.

Gant has given up 11 earned runs in 9.1 innings. Davies has given up six earned runs over his last 10.2 innings of work. The Cubs hit the ball against the Sox but just couldn't stop them from scoring. The Twins have the ability to score a lot of runs also. I don't see either of these two pitchers shutting down the opposing team.
