The Chicago White Sox took the first game of a three-game set from AL Central rivals the Kansas City Royals 7-1. Kansas City has now lost four in a row after getting swept by the Blue Jays over the weekend. The Royal's offense was ineffective against the Sox as they managed just three hits in the loss. Carlos Hernandez will get the start against the Sox. He has posted 4.98 ERA in 34.1 innings this year with 42 strikeouts and 22 walks.

The White Sox have now won two in a row and were coming off a series win over Cleveland over the weekend. Dylan Cease gave them a strong outing, going 6 shutout innings and allowing just 1 hit, and notching eleven strikeouts. They will counter with Lucas Giolito taking the mound. He has posted a 3.67 ERA in 125.0 innings with 143 strikeouts and 39 walks.

Giolito has gone 21 innings with just three earned runs and 13 hits in his last three starts. Hernandez went six innings of shutout baseball against the Sox but the start before against the Tigers he lasted just 2.2 innings giving up 5 earned runs. Giolito pitches better at home and this KC team traded away a Sox killer in Soler. The White Sox are heading in the right direction and are starting to get the injured players back to bolster an already deadly offense.
