The Colorado Avalanche lost their opener to the St Louis Blues 4-1 but they bounced back with an 8-0 win over the Blues. Colorado has one of the best offenses in the league. The Avs were 4th in scoring last year. Five of their goals came on the powerplay. Netminder Philipp Grubauer got the win, he is 2-2 with a 1.50 GAA against the Kings in his career.

LA continues to rebuild and has started the year at 0-2 but both losses were in OT to a solid Minnesota squad. . LA got rid of some aging veterans, and they have been loading up with solid draft picks and plenty of young talent. This is a team that will struggle to score all year long. They did score three goals in each of their first two games but also gave up four in each game. Netminder Jonathan Quick is 19-8 with a 2.16 GAA against the Avalanche in his career.

The Kings came close in their opening two games. Jonathan Quick has good career numbers against the Avs. Colorado is one of the best teams in the NHL and is coming off an 8 goal explosion. They have an excellent offense and a much better defense than that of the Wild, who LA scored five goals on in their last game.
