The Chicago White Sox have taken the first two games of their four-game set against the Minnesota Twins. They took game one 3-1 and last night's game 6-2. This will be the third installment in a four-game series between these teams this week. The White Sox banged out a 3-1 victory in the opener. They have won six in a row and have opened a three-game lead over the Twins in the AL Central. Dane Dunning had another good start for the Sox in the win. He went seven innings, allowing three hits, two runs (one earned), and seven strikeouts. The White Sox will send Lucas Giolito to the mound as they look to extend their lead over the Twins. He is 4-2 with a 3.43 ERA in 10 starts this season. He has 82 strikeouts in 60.1 innings.
The Twins once again couldn't get their offense going against Sox pitching. They were able to muster just four hits against Dunnubg and company. Starting pitcher Randy Dobnak had another rough outing, allowing four earned runs on eight hits in just 4.1 innings. The Twins will look to stop the bleeding by sending out Jake Odorizzi to the mound. This season, he is 0-1 with an 8.10 ERA. His last start was on August 21, where he went just 3.0 innings and allowed seven hits and five earned runs.
The Twins are 3-7 in their last 10 games overall as an underdog. The White Sox 22-6 in their last 28 versus the American League Central. The Sox bats have been humming along and should have some good licks at Odorizzi who comes on with an 8.10 ERA in over 10 innings. Giolito has not been as sharp as he was during his no-hitter but has been pretty good. I see the Sox continuing to roll and putting more distance between them and the Twins.
Play on the Chicago White Sox.
