Everything points to a bit of a "duel" here in the opener in our opinion.

The visitors hand the ball to Mike Clevinger (0-0, 0.00 ERA) to make his first start of the season, against his former team no less.

The home side counters with his close friend Zach Plesac (1-2, 3.80.)

Clevinger is 44-23 with a 3.19 ERA in 92 starts in his big league career. He made two rehab starts over the last two weeks, striking out 15 over 8 2/3's innings of work with a 2.08 ERA.

The Guardians had lost seven in a row before sweeping the A's in a three-game weekend series. The Padres are second in the NL West behind the Dodgers.
