Dallas has been playing a bit better of late as it's 6-4 in its last ten. It's 29-20-1-2 overall and it's coming off a 4-2 win here home over Buffalo a couple of nights ago. That game PUSHED on the total, but previous to that the Stars had seen the total go UNDER in six straight.
And for the Kings, they're 29-18-5-2, so these teams do have very similar records. But LA is coming off a terrible 7-0 loss at home to the Bruins, which actually really came out of no where because previous to that it'd won seven of its last nine, including five in a row.
LA managed a 4-0 shutout victory in these team's most recent matchup back on December 9th, but that works in our favor here as far as the OVER is concerned because Dallas has seen the total go OVER the number in eight of its last ten in trying to revenge a shutout loss against an opponent.
As primarily a situational handicapper, I think this matchup sets up as a higher-scoring shootout, rather than a lower-scoring goaltenders battle. The play is the OVER.
