Point Spread: 7.00 | -115.00 Charlotte (Home)
Result: Win
This is a 10* TOP FRIDAY NIGHT NON-CONFERENCE SIDE PLAY on Charlotte.
Duke is off a 2-9 seaosn, while Charlotte was just 2-4 (four games got cancelled.)
One of Duke's wins was a 53-19 thumping of Charlotte. The Blue Devils have a few pieces back, but they have a new QB in Gunnar Holmberg, who in three seasons at Duke has played in just seven games. Duke was terrible defensively last year, conceding 38.1 PPG.
The 49ers can chalk up most of their issues to COVID last year. The team was hit hard by it. However, ten starters return on offense, including QB Chris Reynolds, who had eight TD's and two INT's last year. His top four pass catchers are back from last season as well.
Charlotte has some playmakers on defense as well (LB Tyler Murray led the 49ers with 49 tackles last year.)
Dating to last season, Duke is also just 1-5 ATS in its last six on the road.
With bigger opponents upcoming, I say that Duke gets caught looking past its lowly opponent.
While the outright is possible, in the end my official call will be to grab as many points as you can.
Good luck, NP
