10* TOTAL OF MONTH (8-3 "GOM" RUN!) **114-89 MLB YTD!**
(MLB) Detroit vs. Cleveland,
Total: 9.50 | -105.00 Over
Result: Loss
Total: 9.50 | -105.00 Over
Result: Loss
This is a 10* TOTAL OF THE MONTH on the OVER Tigers/Indians.
Neither team will be in the playoffs, but each will be hungry for a win tonight.
Both have been playing to several lower-scoring contests of late, but I expect that trend to end here in the opener of this series.
Detroit has seen the total go UNDER in seven straight now after last night's 8-1 win at home over the Red Sox. The Tigers though have been playing better over the last month, they enter having won six of their last ten, including three of their last four.
Cleveland won't be lacking for motivation here, as it's lost three in a row, most recently a 3-0 setback on the road in Toronto.
I also don't really trust either starting pitcher here.
Matt Manning is 2-4 with a 5.59 ERA for the Tigers. He most recently allowed five runs off seven hits over five innings to the lowly Orioles on Saturday. While he's 2-1 with a 3.15 ERA at home, he's 0-3 with an 8.41 ERA on the road.
Cal Quantrill is 2-2 with a 3.40 ERA for the Indians. He's coming off a good start against the White Sox, giving up one run over six innings. He is unfortunately though 0-1 with a 4.92 ERA in four career appearances against Detroit.
Finally, note that Detroit has seen the total go OVER the number in eight of its last 11 after playing to five or more straight UNDERS in a row.
The play is the OVER.
Good luck, NP
