Total: 8.00 | -101.00 Over
Result: Loss
This is an 8* SUPER TOTAL on the OVER Padres/Marlins.
Miami has seen the total go UNDER in three straight after yesterday's 3-2 defeat here to the Padres.
The Friars have seen the total go UNDER in three in a row as well.
I say Friday's game finally sets up as a bit of a SLUG-FEST though.
The vistors hand the ball to Joe Musgrove, who is 5-7 with a 3.14 ERA. He most recently allowed four runs off eight hits over five innings in a fortunate no-decision to the Nationals on Sunday.
The right-hander posted a tiny 2.08 ERA over the first two months of the season, but he's since allowed at least four runs in three of his last four starts. I say this regression continues against this hungry Marlins team.
The home side goes with Zach Thompson, who is 2-2 with a 1.93 ERA. He gave up two runs over four innings in a no-decision against the Phiillis in his last outing. Thompson has pitched 28 innings and he owns a respectable 33:9 K:BB, but the sample size is still too small to draw any conclusive conclusions in my opinion.
Miami has seen the total go OVER in eight of its last 11 in trying to revenge a home loss against an opponent in which it was held to two or less runs in as well.
This one has "OVER" written all over it.
Good luck, NP
