Total: 9.50 | -104.00 Under
Result: Loss
This is a 10* TOP NL TOTAL on the UNDER Padres/Nationals.
Neither starting pitcher instills a lot of confidence. I admit that. But after yesterday's 24-8 win for the Padres, I believe tonight's game is going to sneak UNDER the number once it's all said and done.
Blake Snell is 3-3 with a 4.99 ERA. He was placed on the ten-day IL on July 6th with gastroenteritis, so he's had a few extra days off here between starts. Previous to tha the tossed four scoreless innings in a no-decision to the Phillies.
Snell's home and away numbers are so lop-sided it's ridiculous. He's 3-0 with a 1.45 ERA at home and 0-3 with a 9.22 ERA on the road. Look for these numbers to now start naturally correcting themselves.
Patrick Corbin is 6-7 with a 5.40 ERA, but he enters off a strong outing in his final start before the break for the Nationals, allowing two runs over six innings. While he's 1-4 with a 6.32 ERA on the road, he's 5-3 with a 4.72 ERA at home.
Finally, note that Washington has seen the total go UNDER the number in ten of its last 13 in trying to revenge a home loss against an opponent in which it conceded ten or more runs in.
This number is high, the play is the UNDER.
Good luck, NP
