This is a 10* TOP AL TOTAL on the OVER Rangers/Blues Jays.
I think there are going to be some offensive fireworks in the opener of this series.
The visiting Texas Rangers hand the ball to Jordan Lyles, who is 5-5 with a 4.86 ERA.
Lyles is poised for regression here after posting his fourth straight quality start, most recently allowing two runs over six innings in a win over the A's.
The All-Star break came at a bad time for the veteran in my estimation, as I believe his rythym will absolutely be affected by the longer lay off. Also note that he's just 2-4 with a 4.98 ERA on the road this season.
Robbie Ray is 7-4 with a 3.13 ERA. His final start before the break was a strong one as well, as he'd go seven shutout frames against the Rays.
Each starter has been great, but the Blue Jays ranks fourth in MLB with a 110 wRC+, and that combined with the small dimensions of Sahlen Field are going to see each exit early in my opininon.
And while these starters have for sure both been solid, each team also has significant bullpen issues.
When you add it all up, I think this one has "s-l-u-g-f-e-s-t" written all OVER it.
Good luck, NP
